The reveal has happened! I wrote:

Conflict Resolution - Psych - Why Carlton Lassiter punched Shawn Spencer, and how they got past it.

Thanks to E and Kaelie, as always, for fab beta action! The link above goes to the Yuletide site, but I'll put it up on my website eventually. Yuletide was fun, overall, and also interesting. I may talk about it later in another post. For now, I will just post the 2006-in-fic meme, which I know you have all been waiting on pins and needles for. Your wait is over!

Stories I wrote (and posted):

I wrote three full-length stories:

The Redemption of Clarissa Saunders - Mr Smith Goes to Washington - His name is Jefferson Smith. (Smith/Saunders)

Spring Cleaning - The Office: US - Spring Cleaning. Again. (Jim/Pam, Ensemble)

Conflict Resolution - Psych - Why Carlton Lassiter punched Shawn Spencer, and how they got past it.

I did post a few unfinished ficlets in the following fandoms:Harry Potter, Veronica Mars and The West Wing, and Ocean's 11 and Keen Eddie. I also posted Cairo, a cut scene from the Bourne Identity story I wrote in 2005, Breathe.

(NOTE: No more linking from here on! Am too lazy.)

My favorite:

Even though I hate the beginning and the ending, and some of the dialogue in the middle, there's some stuff in The Redemption of Clarissa Saunders I like a lot. Even though it's definitely not the best story I wrote this year, the story satisfies me in a way that the other two stories I wrote don't. I think that's because there's more source material and other, more talented writers producing stories in the other two fandoms. With Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, the movie is all the source there is, and I have yet to find another fic out there. I encourage others to write, though! Please displace mine as my favorite Mr. Smith story! Mine isn't that good!

My best:

I don't know! Spring Cleaning, I think. I worked the hardest on it and it has the fewest parts I hate!

Story most underappreciated by the universe:

I am always greedy for FB, like any good fic writer, but I can't complain about how much I received for any of them. TRoCS got the least amount, but again, it was a story about a sixty-seven year old movie, and I got more than I expected. The unfinished ficlets got nice comments as well, which was nice. The cut scene received no comments, but I don't think it was underappreciated – I think it just proved that I was right to take my beta's advice and cut the scene from the Bourne story!

Most fun story:

In terms of writing, they were each fun in different ways. TRoCS was fun simply because it was about two of my favorite characters, Clarissa Saunders and Jefferson Smith. I had fun trying to come up with the desk-switching assignments and what each character would find for Spring Cleaning. For Conflict Resolution, I liked writing Shawn's dialogue, and I think overall it's the most jokey of the three.

Sexiest story:

I am such an unsexy writer! None of my stories are sexy.

Story with the single sexiest moment:

Again, so unsexy! Maybe the moment in TRoCS when Clarissa and Jeff are standing in her living room, and she's looking at his coat.

Hardest story to write:

It's a tie!

Spring Cleaning – I spent ages trying to write it to fit within the canon of the second season (most of the Jim/Pam scenes have alternate versions of my computer where they're in relatively good spirits, joking with each other), and then finally decided to try writing it as a post-Casino Night story. I had to change a lot of stuff in the story, and writing a resolution to the Casino Night Jim/Pam stuff that felt okay to me was difficult. Finally, when I had come to some kind of resolution, I sent the story to a beta who pointed out that the show had already had a spring cleaning episode – panic! Stress! Stressy panic! I had seen the show and everything, just miraculously (and characteristically) spaced and forgot the plot point, and so to fix it, I just had Angela comment on the fact that they'd done it already. Kind of a cheap fix, but I wasn't rewriting the story again!

Conflict Resolution – I watch Psych for Shawn and Gus, really, and the prompt I received focused on Lassiter, the character I like least on the show. I was pretty panicked for a while, convinced I would be a Fandom Pariah, forced to default in my very first Yuletide, but eventually I came up with the idea of Lassiter sitting in a therapy session and seeing Shawn walk by drinking a slurpee. The rest of the story came from there. I did worry that the fact that Lassiter isn't my favorite character would come through in the story, and that I wouldn't be able to write a story fitting my recipient's specifications (both in content and in tone). Eventually I was able to write a story I was okay with, and had to leave it at that.

Most unintentionally telling story:

I don’t know! They all show that I'm a sucker for a happy ending, I guess.

Okay, counting "Conflict Resolution" and "What Partners Do" (which I rec'd some time ago in my own journal, though I figure you may not remember that all this time later. But I do!), this makes twice I've really liked your work. I hope you don't mind if I friend you and stick around a bit to keep up with what you're writing.

"Spring Cleaning" is still maybe my favorite Office fic, btw.

I was so flattered by this comment (especially since it comes from you, whose Office fics are so awesome) that it took me a day to respond - thank you so much!

I know you wrote Conflict Resolution forever ago, but I just found it. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. The Shawn and Lassiter interaction was spot-on, and you had me cracking up throughout the fic. :)

wow, I really liked Conflict Resolution a lot--despite the fact that it wasn't Lassie/Shawn, not really, and I was looking! :D It was just so hilarious--Saved by the Bell renuion movie? Juliet to date me? :D Brilliant. And the way Lassie's jealousy curled up in him. *shivers* Awesome. Just. Unbelievably awesome.

I really really hope to read more Psych from you. !!!.

Oh, thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked the story, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate the comment. Psych is a really fun show to write fic for because you can throw in just about any random pop culture reference you can think of. So far, the only other story I've written in the fandom is a Psych/Office crossover, which can be found here, but it is a Gus/Shawn story, so I'm not sure if it's your thing (since I'm assuming from your comment that you prefer Lassie/Shawn).

Thank you again for the kind words!
