I'm terrible about updating my website, but I just did it now because there are other things I should really be doing - I uploaded:

The Right Time (Ugly Betty, Daniel/Betty)
When Betty Suarez wins her first National Magazine Award, Daniel Meade presents it to her.

and

Piece by Piece (Gilmore Girls, Lorelai Gen)
Lorelai picks up fragments of a future and hands them to her daughter piece by piece.

I am not a web design mastermind, so apologies in advance if I messed up (which is very possible).

In the process of putting those files up there, I ended up (very) slightly reorganizing the page where I list the fic I've written, which led to me clicking around and reading some of them - always dangerous! I broke down and ended up going into one story file to make some edits (changing a word/sentence or two to clarify something I found confusing reading it over now), but there were slightly more extensive changes I wanted to make on one story in particular and I couldn't bring myself to do it. It felt like cheating somehow, even though the change wasn't anything too big - just deleting two or three paragraphs to make one scene a little tighter. But still I felt weird doing it.

Do other people edit stories after they've been posted?

Oh! The Right Time

I love the "Daniel/Betty" piece so much! And, why not change something you've written? Re-writing is always a part of the process, especially if you think it helps to clarify your story. I don't consider making changes cheating at all. But, you know my extensive on-line writing history--so, what the hell do I know? :)

Thanks for the kind comments on the story, buddy! I still remember how nervous I was when I sent you the story file - I'm so glad you like it!

I can't figure out why I feel weird going in and changing things! Your comment has strengthened my inclination to go in and make the changes I talked about.

I do edit, yeah. Typos, word changes, rearranging, anything. There are a few stories I still intend to completely overhaul, too, like my Scott/Hilary fic.

Glad I'm not the only one! I think I will go make the changes later today.

Also, I hope you and your family are doing okay - I've been thinking of you.

Oh, yes. I continually edit things after they're posted. I usually don't make very large changes; it's just that I'll suddenly think of a better way of phrasing something, or a more perfect adjective, and I'll have to go do a quick edit.

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one! I went back and made the changes I was thinking of on one story and really don't know why I was so hesitant before.

Thanks for the comment!

I'll edit for typos I catch, but I don't revise stories after I've posted them.

Thanks for responding! I've been reading your meta on writing your Bourne story, which has been super interesting. I love hearing about how other writers think, and your thoughts about your story have been really insightful and interesting.
