I ended up writing two stories for my Yuletide recipient this year, one in the fandom I matched on and another in a fandom I hadn't thought to offer but very much enjoyed. Every year I tell myself, "Self, don't go crazy and write a super-long story you won't have adequate time to really revise and obsessively work over the way you like to." Occasionally I listen to myself, but then there are other years when I write ridiculously long Saved By the Bell stories, or this year, when I wrote one long story:

Con Affetto (8256 words) by fearlessfan
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Pitch Perfect (2012)
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Beca/Chloe
Characters: Beca (Pitch Perfect), Chloe (Pitch Perfect), Fat Amy

Beca and Chloe are friends, that won't change. They'll just be friends who do other stuff, too.

(which I'd planned to clock in at around 4K words and ended up north of 8K. But shorter than my first draft of almost 10K. So a semi-win?) and then another story in addition:

New Year's Eve (1825 words) by fearlessfan
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Mindy Project
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Danny Castellano/Mindy Lahiri
Characters: Danny Castellano, Mindy Lahiri

Danny and Mindy make a bet over who will deliver the first baby of 2013.

I always stress over Yuletide, but in the end it's always worth it, especially the last couple of years when my Yuletide stories have turned out to be the only stories I've posted for the year. I'm hoping that 2013 will be better on that front. I have a couple of stories I want to finish, or at least think I might maybe be able to wrestle into something resembling a satisfying smaller version of what I'd imagined it being, so who knows! Maybe 2013 will be the year I get back in gear.
